After much thought (and several unsuccessful kiln loads), I’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue our beloved Moss Green glaze. This glaze has been part of MMclay for nearly ten years and it has been a favorite of mine, my team, and many others.
Progress 'Stu' Bowl in Moss Green
Over the past several months, Moss Green has become increasingly unpredictable in the kiln. We’ve poured countless hours, resources, and energy into trying to solve the issues, but the results are no longer consistent enough for us to confidently offer it. Because we make all our glazes in-house using organic raw materials, there are occasional shifts in how these materials behave. In this case, it’s time to let this glaze go with gratitude for all the beauty it’s brought into the world.
Trial tiles exploring consistency
We’re also temporarily pausing production of some of our dinner and salad plates while we work through a technical issue behind the scenes. We still have some pieces in stock and ready to ship, but new production is on hold for now as we make sure everything meets our standards. We’ll have updates in the new year, and we appreciate your patience while we sort it out.
Through all of this one mantra has continued to guide me through challenges big and small and I repeat it to myself frequently.
“Conflict and challenge is an offering.”
With every obstacle comes an opportunity. In this case, the opportunity is the space to bring something new into MMclay. We’ve been working hard on the new lamp designs and more custom pieces that I am really excited about. It’s also given me the chance to create larger vessels which I have been wanting to do for years. Additionally, I’ve been working on a new glaze that I’m excited to share with you soon, so please stay tuned.
While it’s always bittersweet to say goodbye to a long-loved glaze and navigate production hiccups, I feel confident that the future of MMclay is bright. More changes may come as we continue to navigate what it takes to keep this studio thriving, but one thing remains constant: your support and enthusiasm fuel everything we do.
Thank you for loving our work, and for being part of this community.
With gratitude,
MaryMar

Farewell moss green! We will still love you in nature, but sounds like you’re too high maintenance for the kiln!
Love me some MM Clay, forever.
